Community Consultation and Identified Needs
In January 2026, ESCA-UK held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Community Consultation Session in London, bringing together local community members, residents, volunteers, partners, and beneficiaries of previous programmes.
This consultation provided an opportunity to review achievements, assess current challenges, and identify future community development priorities within London.
Key identified needs:
Youth development (ages 16–25) and the provision of safe and positive opportunities.
Second: Mental health and wellbeing support.
Sports and recreational activities.
Women’s empowerment and participation.
Support for older people and socially isolated individuals.
Educational and personal development opportunities.
Strengthening cultural heritage and identity.
Community safety and legal awareness.
Stakeholder Input (London Partners)
Representatives from Hammersmith & Fulham Police highlighted increasing risks facing young people, emphasising the importance of preventative approaches focusing on:
Knife crime prevention.
Community safety.
Mental health awareness.
Positive youth engagement.
The consultation also highlighted:
Increasing social isolation among some groups within the community.
Limited access to affordable activities.
The need for culturally appropriate and inclusive services.
