1. Introduction

As part of ESCA Community’s commitment to supporting and empowering local communities, the Public Services Project was established to provide free advice, guidance, and practical assistance to individuals and families experiencing difficulties in accessing essential public services.

The project aims to promote social inclusion, reduce barriers to accessing statutory services, and improve the wellbeing of vulnerable and disadvantaged community members, particularly newly arrived residents and those requiring additional support.

The project was launched in mid-February 2026 through a dedicated Service Request Form and continues to provide ongoing support to individuals and families in need.

2. Project Objectives

The project seeks to:

Provide free information, advice, and guidance to community members.

Improve access to public services and government support.

Assist individuals and families with housing, welfare benefits, and healthcare-related matters.

Support job seekers in accessing employment opportunities.

Promote integration through access to English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses.

Strengthen communication between parents and schools.

Assist beneficiaries in completing official forms and applications accurately.

Improve social wellbeing and encourage greater community participation.

3. Services Provided

The project offers support in the following areas:

Housing advice and support.

Welfare benefits advice and application assistance.

NHS services and healthcare support.

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) applications and enquiries.

Employment and job-search support.

ESOL course registration assistance.

Liaison with schools and support for parents attending school meetings.

Assistance with completing a wide range of official forms and applications.

4. Target Beneficiaries

The project supports:

  • Women.

  • Men.

  • Children.

  • Older people.

Beneficiaries come from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, including communities from:

  • Sudan.

  • The Middle East.

  • East Africa.

  • Local UK communities.

5. Beneficiary Statistics

Since the launch of the project:

Total beneficiaries supported: 85 people.

Age groups: 18–34 years and 35–75 years.

Demand for the service has continued to increase, demonstrating the growing need for accessible community support services within the local area.

6. Outcomes and Impact

The project has achieved several positive outcomes, including:

  • Improved access to public and statutory services.

  • Successful resolution of housing, welfare, and healthcare-related issues.

  • Enhanced employment support for job seekers.

  • Improved communication between parents and schools.

  • Reduced errors and delays in completing official applications.

  • Increased confidence among beneficiaries when engaging with public services.

  • Financial relief for low-income households through the provision of free support services.

8. Service Delivery Process

All services are provided free of charge.

Individuals access support by completing a Service Request Form. Each request is reviewed by a member of the ESCA team, who then contacts the applicant to provide appropriate advice and support or arrange an appointment where necessary.

9. Sustainability and Future Development

ESCA Community is committed to maintaining and expanding the Public Services Project to meet increasing demand.

Future priorities include:

  • Expanding services to additional areas across London.

  • Increasing service delivery days to accommodate more beneficiaries.

  • Recruiting additional volunteers and multilingual advisers.

  • Developing a digital appointment and case management system.

  • Strengthening partnerships with local authorities, NHS services, educational institutions, and voluntary sector organisations.

  • Securing long-term funding to ensure the sustainability and continued growth of the project.

Based on the project's achievements and growing demand, ESCA Community recommends:
