Introduction
As part of its commitment to promoting the physical and mental health of its members and providing safe, positive recreational alternatives to fill spare time, the Eastern Sudan Communities Association (ESCA) implements a set of regular sports activities that include football, table tennis, dominoes, and chess.
These initiatives aim to support the mental health of adults in light of the psychological impact of painful events in Sudan, including the loss of relatives or friends, and to provide a secure environment for stress relief, building team spirit, and strengthening community cooperation.

Positively Fill Free Time: Provide useful recreational programs for adults to disconnect from daily stressors and work pressures.
Develop Team Spirit and Cooperation: Through football matches and group play, where members reinforce mutual respect and teamwork.
Encourage Strategic Thinking and Focus: Through chess and dominoes, enhance participants' analytical, focused, and decision-making abilities.
Support Continuous Community Participation: Provide an accessible platform for adult members to connect, socialize, and contribute actively to the association's broader civic activities.

Activities and Implementation
1. Football
Weekly football practices are organized every Monday on rented local pitches.
The playing system is strictly funded and sustained through "Shair" (the traditional community sharing/contribution model) among the players themselves. All participants are over 18, ensuring collective financial responsibility to cover the pitch hire.
Practices aim to enhance physical fitness and team discipline, in addition to supporting mental health by safely releasing energy in a welcoming, fraternal environment.
2. Table Tennis
A permanent table tennis table is available inside the association's headquarters, allowing for regular indoor practice and drop-in sessions.
Matches focus on developing coordination, mental concentration skills, and encouraging healthy, positive competition among peers.
3. Dominoes
Dominoes is offered as part of our social recreational activities, enhancing patience, strategic thinking, mental arithmetic, and continuous communication among members.
4. Chess
Chess sessions are held as part of the program to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning.
This game provides members with an opportunity to challenge themselves intellectually, stimulating logical thinking while providing a quiet environment for positive social interaction.

Target Audience
Adults (strictly over 18 years old) from the Eastern Sudan community and wider diaspora in Greater Manchester.
The activities are deliberately varied to accommodate different individual interests, providing diverse athletic and intellectual options suitable for all adult participants.

These sports programs align directly with the core tenets of the Eastern Sudan Community Association (ESCA):
Community Empowerment: Building resilience through targeted physical and recreational activities.
Social Integration: Promoting cross-cultural interaction and creating strong, lasting relationships among community members.
Identity & Wellbeing: Preserving cultural identity while creating a strictly safe, welcoming environment for social interaction.
